Sculptress and author, Monika Osiecka is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She attended the studio of Grzegorz Kowalski, the famous Kowalnia, where she completed her studies in 1994.
She came to sculpture through a fascination with the cultures of Italy and Iran, where she spent her childhood and early youth. Born in Milan, she studied Persian and Italian literature and languages at the University of Warsaw, and afterwards enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts.
She creates abstract sculptures and female nudes. The material of her choice is marble, alabaster and bronze, which she works on at international sculpture symposiums and residences around Europe.
In Dec 2011 , “Mirror Fragments”, a book by Monika Osiecka, was published by słowo/ obraz terytoria. The poetic form and the unusual intimacy of this autobiographical narrative offer a record of creative self-awareness of a woman artist, that is unusual in Polish literature.
In 2014 won the competition for a monument to be erected in Normandy, France, to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the victorious Battle of Falaise at Mont-Ormel of the I Division of Gen.S.Maczek.
