Kopczyński / Orłowski - Discussions

We are delighted to see such a warm response to Wojciech Kopczynski and Pawel Orlowski’s exhibition – Discussions – and to see so many of you there.

The “Discussions” exhibition will last until September 3. Come and visit us at the Van Rij Gallery in Ćmielów!

The works of Wojciech Kopczynski and Pawel Orlowski can also be seen on our website. Anyone interested in the Artists’ works is welcome to contact us (krij@me.com, tel: 792 047 766).

The exhibition “Discussions” is a human being seen through the eyes of two artists – Pawel Orlowski and Wojciech Kopczynski. A dialogue between the artists shows two views on the meaning of life, passing and existence, the role of the individual and the artist in art.

The pretext for the joint exhibition was the dialogue that the artists had with each other for several years. Their meetings together was a discussion about their artistic journeys on the one hand, and their personal experiences on the other. These were conversations full of melancholy, dilemmas and dramatic creative experiences, often also touching on personal issues in collision with their artistic choices.

The exhibition will feature dozens of works by Artists from the previous decades of their career. Wojciech Kopczynski’s works from the 2003 series Buildings, which were exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow MOCAK, will be shown. From the work of Pawel Orlowski, sculptures from the series Concrete and Shells will be exhibited, as well as early paintings in which the focus of interest was the human being.

Wojtek Kopczynski’s art speak of man’s loneliness and his feeling lost in the world. This is a pessimistic, almost apocalyptic picture of reality, dominating all the Artist’s oeuvre, in which a person is destined to a tragic fate. While in Wojtek Kopczynski’s works the future appears in dark colors, Pawel Orlowski’s art is an optimistic view of the times ahead. The works presented at the exhibition are particularly interesting when juxtaposed with Orlowski’s latest pieces, especially from the Bots series, in which the Artist convinces us that living with new technologies and robotic development of the future is inevitable but offers hope for a better tomorrow.
